AN EVENING WITH LUCILLE BALL

A 90 minute (with intermission) Theatrical One Woman Show Presentation:

Starring and Written by – Suzanne LaRusch

Suzanne LaRusch stars in AN EVENING WITH LUCILLE BALL, a one-woman show. The show is reflective of the amusing lectures Lucille Ball frequently gave and was her way of "giving back". Through questions, monologues and musical numbers - Suzanne recreates the magic of the world's most beloved comedienne, Lucille Ball.  Act ONE reveals a 1960 LUCY as her popular television show I LOVE LUCY has come to an end after its 9 year run - along with her 20 year marriage to famous Cuban bandleader Desi Arnaz. Expecting to only be answering questions and taking photos; she learns the awaiting audience is expecting a comedy performance from “The Great Lucille Ball”.  Not wanting to disappoint her fans she quickly improvises by adding some “Lucy” type antics to the line-up.  ACT TWO - Fourteen years later 1974, as she readies for the opening of her picture, MAME, she realizes she has somehow been booked in the same venue and situation as 14 year prior and decides to again come up with things the fans would enjoy from “Lucy”.

Ball is given 3X5 cards with questions from the audience:

Did you really eat all those chocolates?

What was in the Vitameatavegamin bottle?

                        What was your favorite episode?

How did I LOVE LUCY come to be?

                        Are you a natural redhead?

                        What are your pet peeves?

And finally……  Was Desi Arnaz the love of your life?

Throughout the evening the questions are answered in a creative, amusing and also touching way.  As Ball answers the questions (she’s been asked thousands of times through the years,) a change in lighting tells us we are now privy to her inner thoughts, the behind-the-scene story, her real feelings. The spotlight snaps off returning us to the lecture hall and her stock answer to the question.

The Show culminates with one of the many audience participation pieces as she completely transforms into MAME!  The famous red pajamas host the song, IT’S TODAY.

A HOBO pantomime, a voice lesson, spilling popcorn over members in the audience as she tries to find her seat amongst them, a video montage of Desi Arnaz, My Favorite Husband Radio clips, HEY LOOK ME OVER, IF HE WALKED INTO MY LIFE TODAY, MAIN STREET USA, QUEEN OF THE GYPSIES, BE MY BABY BUMBLE BEE all help to complete this very special presentation.

A theatrical treat for Corporate, Theatre, Performing Arts Centers, Universities, and Fundraising Events.

(Customized versions of this show available for your specific group and venue).
